Palnatoke's tip reinforcement has a graduated flex (top photo). The reinforcement is to protect your body parts (eyes, ribs etc) from injuries when accidents in battle situations happens. The graduated flex with no break points gives optimal protection and durability. A solution with break points (right side of photo) doesn't offer the same protection - and it doesn't matter if it is made of steel, carbon fibre or Kevlar.
