Traditional Japanese Friction Folder
Citadel's take on the Higonokami is a bit different than what you'll find anywhere else. The differentially hardened high carbon (DNH7) blade and unique tang extension remains, but the typical folded brass handle is replaced by a nice piece of buffalo horn with a carved recess for the blade.
The blade can be opened one-handed with a little practice and is held open by the forged tang extension. The pivot is peened in place and is fairly tight to keep the blade from opening while in the pocket. The horn handle keeps this knife nice and light for everyday carry. Not to mention horn is a good bit warmer than brass in the winter! A copper lanyard tube completes the otherwise simple handle.
As DNH7 is a high-carbon steel the knife should be cleaned and oiled from time to time; a nylon zipper storage pouch with embroidered Citadel logo is included.
