The ‘Higo Nokami’ knife is the traditional and ubiquitous pocket carry knife of Japan. Used by just about everybody for everyday cutting chores, this handy little knife’s design goes back to Japan’s Meiji period. The sturdy slip-joint system features a simple yet unique blade lug that acts as both a thumb-opening lever and a blade stop. The Rock Creek version is double-bladed, with each blade forged in high carbon steel and differentially hardened to produce a hard edge and characteristic ‘hamon’ or temper line. The blades are flat-ground, hold an edge well and are easily sharpened.
Available with either stag (KH2535) or dragon-engraved bamboo (KH2534) scales, the ‘Higo Nokami’ comes with its own drawstring carry pouch.
